We encourage you to use our facilities
in seeking employment and Cooperative Education opportunities. A Jackson
State University student from any curricular area may enter the Cooperative
Education Program upon successful completion of the freshman year.
Transfer students must complete one semester at Jackson State before
their first placement. Students who fail to maintain a good academic
standing (2.5 - 4.0) are not eligible for the Co-op program. In order
to facilitate your use of our office services, please follow these
guidelines.

- All persons interviewing in the Placement Center must be
currently enrolled at the University or provide proof of graduation
from Jackson State.
- All persons must submit the following to the Placement Center
prior to signing up for an interview.
- Resume to be critiqued
by the Placement Center.
- Completion of a Consent to Release of Records form
and a Transcript Request form.
- Non-citizens
must have a copy of their permanent visa or work permit.

| How To Sign Up For An Interview |

1. Secure a copy of
the current interview schedule.
2. Select those companies you wish to interview with and note the
dates these interviews are scheduled. NOTE: YOU MAY INTERVIEW
WITH A MAXIMUM OF FOUR (4) COMPANIES PER MONTH, UNLESS SPECIAL
PERMISSION IS GRANTED THROUGH THE PLACEMENT CENTER. Please do
not sign-up to interview with employers previously interviewed
with, unless requested by the employer.
3. Please read data on the sign-up schedule carefully to make sure
you meet the requirements ( i.e., major, degree, date of graduation,
G.P.A, etc.) before you sign up for an interview. NOTE:
IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE STATED REQUIREMENTS, YOUR NAME WILL BE TAKEN
OFF
THE INTERVIEW SCHEDULE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. Please read the information
carefully. If you have any questions, please ask the Placement
Staff for assistance.
4. Please respond with your name, major, graduation date, and phone
number at an available interview time that does not conflict with
your class schedule. If the schedule is full, please sign the waiting
list.
5. Make a note of interview dates and times for your personal records.
CANCELLATIONS MUST BE MADE A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE INTERVIEW
DATE IN ORDER TO REMAIN IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE PLACEMENT CENTER.
IF YOU DO NOT GIVE A NOTICE OF CANCELLATION, YOUR NAME WILL BE
REMOVED FROM ALL INTERVIEW SCHEDULES FOR THE SEMESTER. YOU WILL
NOT BE ALLOWED TO INTERVIEW THROUGH THE PLACEMENT CENTER FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THE SEMESTER.

| Prior To Interview |

1. Prior to the interview, read available company
literature and/or view video tape(s) on file in the Career
Counseling and Placement Center.
2. On the day of your interview, arrive approximately fifteen
(15) minutes prior to your scheduled interview time. Be seated
in the reception/foyer area and wait for the company representative
to call your name.
